Six Books I’ll Be Reading This Summer

Hi everyone! We’re officially well into summer and I still haven’t shared my summer TBR with you, so I thought it was about time I did! I’m the first to admit I’m mostly a mood reader (I only read 2 of the books on my spring tbr) but I do know I tend to get through a lot of contemporaries in the summer, so I have high hopes for getting through most of these!

To be completely honest with you, so far this summer has been a rollercoaster for me. The high’s have been a blur of dates with my boyfriend, time with my family, and reading, but I’ve been really struggling with motivation for my blog recently and I received some shocking news too, which has taken a while to sink in. I’m hoping I can get back on track soon though – and these books are the perfect place to start! Now let’s get onto them.

Princess Of Souls by Alexandra Christo

Goodreads: Princess Of Souls

Initial Thoughts: Ok, so I know I just said I’ll mainly be reading contemporary, but I got approved for the first ARC I’ve ever requested – and it’s set in the same universe as To Kill A Kingdom, which I absolutely love! I’m so grateful that I get to read this early and I truly can’t wait to get into it – did I mention it’s Rapunzel inspired, too?!

Not Here To Be Liked by Michelle Quach

Goodreads: Not Here To Be Liked

Initial Thoughts: This was actually on my spring tbr but I didn’t end up getting to it, so I’m moving it here instead! I love books with strong female leads and this one looks like it really won’t disappoint on that front. The fact that this is rivals to lovers and centres on feminism completely sealed the deal for me!

Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Goodreads: Book Lovers

Initial Thoughts: I don’t know about you, but books about books always hit different! I still haven’t read anything by Emily Henry yet but I figured this was the perfect place to start. I love the rivals to lovers trope and the small town setting of this one too!

The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas

Goodreads: The Spanish Love Deception

Initial Thoughts: I’ve currently got a huge case of wanderlust and am blasting through travel-based books so this soon found a place on my list! I’m really looking forward to the Spanish setting and, the enemies to lovers combined with fake dating honestly sounds perfect!

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Goodreads: Malibu Rising

Initial Thoughts: This is one of my most anticipated reads of the year! I’ve heard so many fantastic things about Taylor Jenkins Reid and I’m thrilled to be starting her books with Malibu Rising, which sounds right up my street! I don’t read a lot of historical fiction but I love books about siblings and the setting sounds great, so I can’t wait to finally check this out.

See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Goodreads: See You Yesterday

Initial Thoughts: This still hasn’t arrived yet (it’s due this week!) but once it has I know I’ll be devouring it! I loved Today Tonight Tomorrow when I read it last year and I’m really hoping I’ll love this just as much too. Books set in college are always so great, and I love that this incorporates time travel too!

Have you read any of these? What books will you be reading this summer? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

  1. Eeeek yay for Book Lovers! I love all of Emily Henry’s romcoms and this one was really sweet. I hope you enjoy it. Malibu Rising was a really interesting book as well. Maybe not my fave by TJR but definitely good! Have a wonderfully bookish summer!

  4. It looks like you have some great options here! I was just getting ready to head out on our first camping trip of the season when I got our library newsletter, and it said that they were offering a surprise bag service. Basically, you fill out a Google form explaining your likes in terms of reading and they select 5 books for you. I have now read 3 of the 5 that they chose for me and let me tell you… they were spot on! Princess of Souls sounds like it’s right in line with the books that they chose, so maybe I’ll pretend it was a 6 book surprise bag and add it to the list lol

    1. Yes I truly do! That sounds like such a cool experience, I’ll have to see if my library does something similar – if they do, count me in! I’m so glad they got it right with you, that’s amazing! I hope you enjoy Princess Of Souls if you do end up reading it, thank you so much for reading and commenting.

My summer also started very hard, but I am fighting, as we all! 🙂 But about the books – Princess Of Souls by Alexandra Christo looks so interesting! The cover catches the eyes and whaaaaat – inspired by Rapunzel? Wow, then it needs to be a great read! Now I can’t wait for your review!
