Upcoming Releases: June 2022

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to be sharing some of my most anticipated YA releases of the month with you. Please note that these dates are correct as of the time of writing and refer to UK hardcover publication only, as that’s what I’ll be reading. Surprisingly there seems to be a lot of fantasies releasing this month, as well as the usual spring contemporaries, which I’m very excited for!

The Gravity Of Missing Things by Marisa Urgo

Release Date: 7th June

Genre: Contemporary, mystery, thriller

Initial Thoughts: Regular readers will know that I can’t resist a good contemporary and mystery, so I had to add this to my list! This definitely has the potential to be super twisty and I already have tons of questions about the plane crash and Violet’s mum’s involvement in it. I can’t wait to see where Urgo goes with this!

Happily Ever Island by Crystal Cestari

Release Date: 7th June

Genre: Romance, contemporary

Initial Thoughts: I love all things Disney, so of course I had to add this to my list! This sounds like such a cute read, I’m already invested in Madison and Lanie’s friendship and I love the idea of an immersive Disney experience. This one seems perfect for romance, friendship, and a little of that Disney magic, which is probably why I’m so excited for it!

Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White

Release Date: 14th June

Genre: Horror, fantasy

Initial Thoughts: This honestly sounds kind of terrifying… Benji’s run from the cult sounds awful and the addition of the bioweapon makes this unlike anything else I’ve read. Still, the ALC seems really lovely and I think the addition of this LGBTQ+ group makes it the perfect fantasy read for pride!

Valiant Ladies by Melissa Grey

Release Date: 14th June

Genre: Historical, romance

Initial Thoughts: First off, I love that this is inspired by the real seventeenth century Latinx teenagers known as the Valiant Ladies Of Potosí – that’s super interesting! Their dual lives sound really intriguing and I’m super excited to read their investigation – I really hope they can solve the murder!

This Vicious Grace by Emily Thiede

Release Date: 28th June

Genre: Fantasy, romance

Initial Thoughts: This sounds like a really great read! I love the idea of Alessa’s gift – it’s really fascinating – and I’m really excited to see the route Thiede takes, particularly with the ending. One early reviewer described it as a “blend of Italian influences, god-given magic and demon enemies, slow-burn romance, and strong main characters” and if that isn’t enough to make you add it to your list I don’t know what is!

The Black Girls Left Standing by Juliana Goodman

Release Date: 28th June

Genre: Contemporary, mystery

Initial Thoughts: This looks like a really important story! Beau’s journey to expose the truth about what really happened to her sister is inspirational and it’s really promising to see books starting to tackle serious topics like the amount of black women’s deaths which go ignored. I know I’ll definitely be picking this up!

Bad Things Happen Here by Rebecca Barrow

Release Date: 28th June

Genre: Contemporary, thriller, mystery

Initial Thoughts: This is another one I’m really excited for! I love the fact that this is set on an island – I always find thrillers set there have that extra tension – and I think the island curse is a really interesting concept. I can’t wait to see Luca’s investigation into her sister’s death!

Our Crooked Hearts by Melissa Albert

Release Date: 30th June

Genre: Fantasy, mystery, horror

Initial Thoughts: I love the dual timeline in this! I’m definitely invested in both of the characters already and I love that this combines mystery with fantasy. The fact that this book is also about a mother and daughter is something which I don’t think you see often in YA which makes me appreciate it all the more!

Which book are you most excited for? Are there on your radar I haven’t included? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you enjoyed this post!
