Hi everyone! I can’t believe it’s already time for another upcoming YA releases post; it feels like I was only just writing the one for March! This month looks like a really exciting one for new releases; this time of year always brings lots of contemporaries, which I love! Before I get into the post, I’d just like to note that these release dates are correct for UK hardcover publication. Now let’s get into it!

Love From Scratch by Kaitlyn Hill
Release Date: 5th April
Genre: Romance, contemporary
Initial Thoughts: This sounds like such a good read! After reading Today Tonight Tomorrow I couldn’t wait to read more of the rivals to lovers trope, and this sounds like an excellent addition! The viral video combined with the baking element has put this right at the top of my tbr, that’s for sure!

One For All by Lillie Lainoff
Release Date: 12th April
Genre: Historical, fantasy
Initial Thoughts: This sounds like it has such a strong protagonist, and I’m so here for it! I love that this is a modern retelling of The Three Musketeers and that it features a girl with a chronic illness – that’s the type of representation I’m here for! The assassination plot sounds fab too, so I can’t wait for this.

This Golden State by Marit Weisenberg
Release Date: 12th April
Genre: Mystery, contemporary, thriller
Initial Thoughts: Ok but the premise for this is super intriguing… A family constantly on the run, a daughter tired of this life and one DNA test that changes everything… Sign me up! I feel like I already know the Winslow family just from the blurb, and that’s always a sign of a good book!

Blaine for the Win by Robbie Couch
Release Date: 12th April
Genre: Contemporary, romance
Initial Thoughts: I genuinely love the concept of this so much – it has so much potential! Blaine sounds like such a loveable character and I find it absolutely brilliant that after being dumped for “not being serious enough” he decides to run for class president. This promises for some good character development and laughs, that’s for sure!

An Arrow to the Moon by Emily X.R. Pan
Release Date: 12th April
Genre: Romance, retellings, contemporary
Initial Thoughts: A Chinese mythology Romeo and Juliet retelling is the story I didn’t know I needed so I’m super pumped for this one! The feuding families is definitely an aspect I’m interested to see in this one, as of course that was central to Romeo and Juliet!

She Gets the Girl by Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick
Release Date: 14th April
Genre: Romance, contemporary
Initial Thoughts: This sounds like such a cute read! I love that it features two girls teaming up together to get the girl of their dreams but end up falling for each other in the process – storylines like that are always so much fun to read! It’s great that this is set during the freshman year of college too.

Daughter by Kate McLaughlin
Release Date: 19th April
Genre: Thriller, mystery
Initial Thoughts: This is such an interesting concept! I love the idea of Scarlet not knowing who her father is until he’s dying, and that he’s a famous serial killer who will only reveal details about the victims to his daughter… I think it will make for a really different read, and I can’t wait to get into it!

With and Without You by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka
Release Date: 26th April
Genre: Contemporary, romance
Initial Thoughts: This sounds like such a lovely read! I don’t think I’ve ever actually read any books about long distance relationships before, so this will be interesting. I think it’s a really nice inclusion that it’s a second chance romance too – those are always so much fun!

Message Not Found by Dante Medema
Release Date: 28th April
Genre: Contemporary, mystery
Initial Thoughts: Ok but the whole concept of Bailey creating a chat bot based on her best friend who has just passed away is such a unique one! I don’t think I’ve read anything like it before and I’m super intrigued to see the road Medema goes down with this.

Survive The Dome by Kosoko Jackson
Release Date: 29th April
Genre: Science fiction
Initial Thoughts: I honestly can’t remember the last time I read a sci-fi novel, but this one has me hooked! The Dome sounds like such a terrifying concept and I can’t wait to see the protagonists stand up against it. It’s lovely to see that this includes the BLM movement too!
Which book are you most excited for? Are there on your radar I haven’t included? Let me know in the comments!
I hope you enjoyed this post!

Omg I’m such a sucker for contemporary romance. A lot of these books seem similar to the ones I usually read, so I’ll be adding a few to my cart. She gets the girl caught my eye, and I think it might be my next read.
