The Book Snob Book Tag

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to be participating in the Book Snob Book Tag, which I found on Leslie’s blog! It looked like so much fun and I couldn’t not take part! This tag was originally created by Tia And All The Books on Youtube, so be sure to check out their channel, too!

Adaptation Snob: Do you always read the book before watching the film/TV show?

Yes, definitely! Although saying that, I haven’t actually seen many film/TV show adaptions in general, so that doesn’t say much. When I was younger my parents always told me that you should always read the book first, and I guess that stuck! The idea of deliberately watching the on-screen adaption first is actually slightly scary to me, but to each their own!

Format Snob: You can only choose 1 format in which to read books for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose: physical books, eBooks, or audiobooks?

Physical books, all the way! I don’t actually read either of the other formats (other than the odd eBook provided by an author for a review) so that was a very easy question for me – although I would definitely like to look more into eBooks in the future, as they seem good for saving both money and space.

Ship Snob: Would you date or marry a non-reader?

Yes, of course! As long as they still support my ridiculous reading (and book buying, haha) habits then we’re good, lol. My boyfriend owns something like ten books, which I like to tease him about, but we’re still very happy – he even bought me a Waterstones giftcard for Christmas!

Genre Snob: You have to ditch one genre – never to be read again for the rest of your life. Which one do you ditch?

Now that’s a tough question! It would probably have to be sci-fi, though, as that’s currently my least read genre. Although the idea of never reading one genre ever again is almost unthinkable – think of all those good books gone to waste!

Uber Genre Snob: You can only choose to read from one genre for the rest of your life. Which genre do you choose?

This is another really difficult one! It would probably be a toss up between contemporaries and thrillers. I think I would probably have to go for contemporary because they’re always such a mood lifter – that, and I think if I only ever read thrillers I would be extremely paranoid and terrified!

Community Snob: Which genre do you think receives the most snobbery from the bookish community?

Honestly? Probably romance. I feel like a lot of people look down on romance readers, and see the books themselves as fairly limited in terms of content. In reality, though, there’s so much potential with this genre – there are so many different troupes to include, as well as different contemporary elements as well!

Do you think you’ll be taking part in this tag? What’s one genre you couldn’t live without? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you enjoyed reading this tag!

  1. This is such an interesting tag! I agree with you that many frown upon romance books – some even think that Women’s Fiction is romance! Thanks for sharing.

  2. This was such a fun tag to read! That’s so sweet of your boyfriend to get you a gift card to Waterstones! Do you have your eye on any books so far? I agree with choosing physical books and ditching sci-fi haha. Thank you for sharing Ceri! I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it! It really was, I don’t deserve him. I actually bought three hardbacks which were on 50% off, haha. I’m glad you agree! Thank you so much for reading and commenting, I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

  3. I enjoyed reading this. I am one of these people who have to read the book first before watching the adaptation. I remember once I booked tickets to watch Anna Karenina in a play and I read the book in less than a week. It was exhausting but I loved both the book and the play.

    1. I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed it! Me too haha, watching movies first just seems weird to me – but to each their own! Wow that is commitment – I’m so glad you loved them both! Thank you so much for reading and commenting.

  4. I’d love to do this tag! I’m getting more into reading this year. My younger self would be proud. Lately – I have watched more series tv shows only because i would find out they were books after the fact! and then once i’ve watched the show, i feel like there is no point in reading the book. it’s sad really.

  5. This sounds like a really fun tag! I only tend to read romance so that would definitely be the one I’d keep haha. I do read some ebooks, but physical books are a must – you can’t beat that smell
