Monthly Wrap Up: December 2021

Hi everyone! I can’t believe this is the final wrap up post of 2021; this year has genuinely flown by. This month’s been super busy for me, my teachers piled on lots of coursework and, of course, I’ve been super busy with Christmas and seeing loved ones! Despite that, I still managed to read four books this month.

Hollow Men by Todd Sullivan

Rating: ✯✯✯✯✯

Thoughts: Todd was kind enough to send me a physical copy of this whole series in exchange for some honest reviews, and I loved the first book! I thought the twist at the end was truly brilliant and the characters were all so interesting, as was the history behind the dark elves. Although I would’ve liked to see a bit more length and more of the characters I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend it!

There Will Be One by Todd Sullivan

Rating: ✯✯✯✯

Thoughts: This was also brilliant! I really loved getting to see more of Ha Jun in this as well as a whole new cast of characters. As with the previous book, I really loved the action and Korean aspects to this, and I found them really interesting. Although I didn’t like Woo Jin nearly as much as Ha Jun, I still really enjoyed this, and would definitely recommend.

The Upside Of Falling by Alex Light

Rating: ✯✯✯✯

Thoughts: This was a really cute read with some really lovely friendships, too! I really loved Becca’s character development and the themes of family issues which I’m sure many readers could relate to. Becca and Brett’s romance was also adorable – although I would’ve liked to see more of their friendships instead of that going more onto the sidelines. That being said, I still really enjoyed this, so I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a cute quick read!

You’ll Be The Death Of Me by Karen McManus

Rating: ✯✯✯✯✯

Thoughts: This was actually one of my most anticipated reads of the month, so I was really glad I managed to squeeze this in at the very end of this year! I really enjoyed this book, I found all the characters likeable and I loved the bond they all shared. I also didn’t see the major twist coming, and was definitely shocked to find out who the culprit truly was! Overall this was absolutely brilliant and I would definitely recommend.

Have you read any of these books? What books have you read this month? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

  1. I can see you weren’t as productive as you usually are this month but you had good reasons explaining it. I didn’t know any of the books you shared in this post. This month I read Stephen king’s Revival and Eckhard Tolle The power of now. I usually read one fiction and one non fiction at the same time🙂
I wish you a happy, healthy and productive 2022!

  2. I love the cover of The Upside of Falling! The way you described it sounds really good, so I will be adding it to my to read list! I’ve also been wanting to read “Six Crimson Cranes” after seeing it in Waterstones the other day! The cover is gorgeous and the story seems very nice.

  3. These books sound interesting. There Will Be One piqued my interest because you mentioned there are some Korean aspects to it. I’ve been busy this month and I haven’t read any books. I really need to catch up on my reading. Thanks for the recommendations. Hope you’ll have a great New Year!

  4. That sounds like a good range of books that you have been able to read this month. I especially like the sound of the crime mystery, You’ll Be The Death of Me and so will certainly look for that in the bookshops.
