Upcoming Releases: November 2021

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to sharing some of my most anticipated YA releases for this month. Please note that these dates are correct as of the time of publication, but are the UK release dates for the physical copy only. This month seems like it’ll be a great month for releases, there’s a lot of books here that I’m super excited for!

You’ve Reached Sam By Dustin Thao

Release Date: 2nd November

Genre: Contemporary, romance, fantasy, magical realism

Initial Thoughts: This book sounds utterly heartbreaking and I am so excited for it! The idea of Julie’s dead boyfriend picking up the phone when she calls so they have a second chance at goodbye is so original and this book honestly sounds so beautiful. I’m convinced that I’ll be bawling by the end of this but I’m ok with it! (Edit: I did, indeed, end up crying at the end of this book! You can read my review here.)

Gilded By Marissa Meyer

Release Date: 2nd November

Genre: Fantasy, retellings

Initial Thoughts: This is the Rumpelstiltskin retelling I didn’t know I needed! I don’t think I’ve ever read a Rumpelstilskin retelling before but it’s a really unique concept and after reading Heartless earlier this year I can’t wait to see where Meyer goes with this one!

Skin Of The Sea By Natasha Bowen

Release Date: 4th November

Genre: Fantasy, retellings

Initial Thoughts: I have not read nearly enough books about mermaids so this was an instant add to the tbr for me! The blend of The Little Mermaid with West African mythology is such an original concept and I’m definitely interested to see the road this will take. I can’t wait to review this one!

Jade Fire Gold By June C.L. Tan

Release Date: 4th November

Genre: Fantasy, romance

Initial Thoughts: There are not nearly enough books exploring Chinese culture, so I couldn’t resist adding this! This book has so much potential, the romance sounds super interesting and I love the secret motives trope. All in all this sounds like a fabulous fantasy I can’t miss out on!

The Violent Season By Sara Walters

Release Date: 5th November

Genre: Thriller, horror, mystery

Initial Thoughts: This sounds like the sort of book I could’ve done with for Halloween and I wish it had been released a little sooner! The idea of the November illness combined with the mystery behind the murderer sounds super intriguing and this definitely sounds like a book that will keep you guessing right until the end…

Luminous By Mara Rutherford

Release Date: 11th November

Genre: Fantasy

Initial Thoughts: This sounds like such a unique take on a witch story! It sounds like there’s a lot of space for Liora’s character to develop and come into her strength, which I always love to read in books. Coupled with her younger sister being taken, this was a must for the tbr!

The City Beautiful By Aden Polydoros

Release Date: 11th November

Genre: Fantasy, historical

Initial Thoughts: This sounds like such an amazing murder mystery, and I love the Chicago 1893 setting! The fact that the two protagonists are Jewish is only a bonus and I can’t wait to delve into this story – it sounds like it could potentially be quite dark but that’s one of the reasons I’m so excited for it!

Ski Weekend By Rektok Ross

Release Date: 11th November

Genre: Thriller

Initial Thoughts: I love a good survival thriller, so when I saw this I couldn’t resist adding it to my tbr! The snowy isolated setting and the teenagers sounds like a terrifying combination and I’m so here for it. I can’t wait to see what goes down in this!

All Of Us Villains By Amanda Foody and Christine Herman

Release Date: 11th November

Genre: Fantasy

Initial Thoughts: Ok but this one is way up there with my most anticipate releases of the whole year! As soon as I saw the words ‘The Hunger Games with magic’ I was sold and I honestly can not wait for next week to come so I can finally read (or, rather, listen to) this.

Our Way Back To Always By Nina Moreno

Release Date: 18th November

Genre: Romance, contemporary

Initial Thoughts: This book sounds absolutely adorable and I can’t wait to read another great contemporary! I absolutely love the idea of the bucket list and, being at the end of compulsory education myself, I think the pressures of senior year will be a very relatable theme for me. I can’t wait to delve into this one!

Which book are you most excited about? Are there any on your TBR which I haven’t included? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

  2. OMG! I am also really excited to read You Have Reached Sam but I have a feeling it will break my heart…and I also can’t wait to read Jade Fire Gold, it has been on my tbr for around 3-4 months already! Great Post!

  3. What a diverse and intriguing list! There are some great sounding books here. I’m curious about Skin of the Sea. The blend of stories sounds interesting but I also haven’t read a retelling of the Little Mermaid before. I also like the sounds of The City Beautiful.

  4. I love a good YA book, so this list was right up my street! I’m the same as you and am eagerly awaiting the 11th for “All of Us Villians” to come out! Great list of suggestions though and I’ve definitely got a few added to the TBR
