Hi everyone! I can’t believe how close we’re getting to Halloween now. I don’t usually do anything for Halloween with my family, so I thought instead I would give you my best Halloween reads as a way of celebrating! I really hope you find something here that gets you in the spooky mood!

The Island by C. L. Taylor
Thoughts: I actually ended up enjoying the Island a lot more than I thought I would! It follows a group of teenagers stuck on an island where all of their worst fears come true and they get stuck in a nightmare. I whizzed through this fast paced and action filled thriller in less than twenty four hours and loved every second of it! It was brimming with tension throughout and, although I did end up guessing the twist towards the end, it still didn’t take away from the big reveal, which I find is quite rare. So I’m definitely recommending this one!
Trigger warnings: Death, mental illness, obsession, PTSD, childhood trauma, suicide (talked about; not explicit), sexual assault, spiders and snakes.
That Weekend by Kara Thomas
Thoughts: That Weekend is another perfect Halloween read! It follows Claire and her journey for answers after a prom getaway goes wrong and she finds herself alone on a mountain with no recollection of the last forty eight hours and her friends nowhere to be seen. This one literally kept me guessing until the very end – Thomas span such an intricate story where the twists and turns kept on coming! The action in this was also absolutely brilliant, and I would not hesitate to recommend That Weekend to anyone looking for a fab new mystery!
Trigger warnings: Drugs/alcohol, abusive father, affairs, incest, suicidal ideation, drugging, physical assault and death.

It’s Behind You by Kathryn Foxfield
Thoughts: It’s Behind You is another perfect Halloween read! It follows five teenagers on a reality TV show in a competition to see who can stay in a cave for twenty four hours – but, when they get locked in, the choice gets taken out of their hands. I was literally kept guessing until the very end in this one and it was a highly enjoyable read, with some very entertaining and interesting characters too! The actions and twists were spot on and I’d definitely recommend this to anyone.
Trigger warnings: Death, claustrophobic moments (crawling through tunnels, etc).
As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson
Thoughts: It wouldn’t be a Read And Review It recommendation post without me mentioning As Good As Dead… Right?! Seriously though, this book is perfect for Halloween – I think it’s actually the darkest book on this list. It picks up right after the events of Good Girl, Bad Blood and explores the effects it has on Pip. This book was deliciously creepy and I loved every word of it! However, just as a reminder this is the final book in a trilogy – so if you haven’t read the others yet but want to read this one this autumn get on it, asap!
Trigger warnings: Substance abuse, murder, kidnapping, arson, stalking, PTSD and mentions of rape.

All These Bodies by Kendare Blake
Thoughts: All These Bodies follows fifteen year old Marie when she is found at a murder scene covered in blood – none of which is hers. She is immediately brought into questioning over what the media has deemed the Dracula Murders, and the book follows her story. Although the first half of this was slower, the second definitely picked up, and I really enjoyed it. The murders themselves were very disturbing and this is definitely not for the faint hearted. If you can deal with the trigger warnings though, then I would definitely recommend this for a really spooky book this Halloween!
Trigger Warnings: Death, violence, murder, mentions of sexual and physical abuse, animal death, blood, cutting of skin
Well… There you have it! Five amazing books to read this Halloween. I really hope you found something you’d enjoy on this list!
What books are on your Halloween reading list? Have you read any of these yet? Let me know in the comments!
I hope you enjoyed this post!

Eek! These are definitely *not* for my easily spooked self haha. I stay as far away from scary books/movies/shows/etc. as possible no matter what time of year it is. But I know lots of people LOVE spooky season so I’ll have to send this their way!
