Upcoming Releases: October 2021

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to sharing some of my most anticipated YA releases for this month. Please note that these dates are correct as of the time of publication, but are the UK release dates only. I hope you can find some great new reads to add to your TBR – I know I did while researching!

Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson

Release date: 5th October

Genre: Fantasy

Initial thoughts: First off, can we just take a minute to appreciate that cover? I need this on my shelves! This sounds like such an interesting book with plenty of action and fantasy elements. One reviewer on goodreads actually said that there are no side romances in this, which is unusual for fantasies, but sounds super interesting! Artemisia sounds like such a strong female protagonist too and I am so ready for her story!

Crossbones by Kimberly Vale

Release date: 5th October

Genre: Fantasy, adventure

Initial thoughts: I don’t think I’ve ever read a book about pirates before, but I couldn’t resist adding this one to my tbr! The idea of the Trial certainly has me hooked and I can’t wait to see who wins. I’m definitely really excited to get into this one!

Bluebird by Sharon Cameron

Release date: 5th October

Genre: Historical

Initial thoughts: I don’t usually read historical fiction but I always find ones about the two world wars interesting so I couldn’t not include this! This sounds like it could be quite a heavy read, the author included a list of triggers on goodreads and of course books about WW2 always tend to be quite difficult. I’m definitely still excited for this one though – it sounds like a really unique story exploring the horrors of WW2 in a different way.

Lakesedge by Lyndall Clipstone

Release date: 12th October

Genre: Fantasy, gothic, horror, romance

Initial thoughts: This one sounds absolutely magical! I feel like there’s a real shortage of gothic fantasy in YA and I’m so excited to read this one. The idea of the monster combined with the mystery has given this book so much potential and it sounds like the perfect dark fantasy to curl up with this autumn!

So, This Is Christmas by Tracy Andreen

Release date: 12th October

Genre: Romance, contemporary, holiday

Initial thoughts: I think it’s officially safe to say that it’s close to Christmas if the Christmas books are being released now! This sounds like a really cute and easy read for the festive season, which is always welcome. I’m so excited to read this one in December – I think it’s going to be the perfect holiday read!

Creatures Most Vile by Chelsea Lauren

Release date: 12th October

Genre: Fantasy

Initial thoughts: This sounds like another really exciting read! The idea of Anora’s supernatural abilities combined with the arena has certainly piqued my interest and I’m already invested in her story and attempt to escape. I definitely can’t wait to get my hands on this one.

Remember Me by Estelle Laure

Release date: 12th October

Genre: Contemporary, romance

Initial thoughts: This one has such an interesting premise! The idea of paying to get your memories removed and whether or not it was worth has hooked already. I can’t wait to see whether or not Blue can get her memories removed and uncover the truth about what happened!

Out Of The Fire by Andrea Contos

Release date: 19th October

Genre: Mystery, thriller, contemporary

Initial thoughts: The blurb described this as Sadie meets One Of Us Is Lying and, as I loved both of those books, I had to add this to my tbr! I have to admit the feminist aspect was the main thing which hooked me in for this one. The mystery/thriller aspect also sounds super interesting so I’m really pumped for this one!

Little Thieves by Margaret Owen

Release date: 19th October

Genre: Retellings, romance, fantasy

Initial thoughts: I’ve never actually read The Goose Girls, which this is a retelling of, but this still found its way onto my tbr! The concept of the curse and breaking it is fascinating and I can’t wait to read Vanja’s journey. I’m sorely tempted to preorder this one!

Where Echoes Lie by Shannon Schuren

Release date: 26th October

Genre: Horror, mystery

Initial thoughts: The legend of the ghost bride already has me completely hooked! This one sounds so eerie and spooky and is actually coming out just in time for Halloween. This one is another one with loads of promise so I’m super excited for it!

Which book are you most excited about? Are there any on your TBR which I haven’t included? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

    1. Yes the cover truly is stunning! I don’t mind side romances but I think it would be refreshing to read a book without one. I really hope you enjoy them both, thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment!

  6. Wow! The cover of Vespertine alone – I know you’re not meant to judge a book by it’s cover haha. I do like some fantasy so this definitely interests me. And of course So This Is Christmas because I’m Christmas obsessed!

    1. It really is beautiful – and the best part is the concept sounds super cool too! Same, I’m actually really in the mood for fantasy at the moment despite it normally being my least read genre. I’m so glad to find someone else who’s obsessed with Christmas! Thank you so much for reading and commenting.

  9. The first two books seem very interesting! The cover is beautiful for sure. I have also never read books about pirates lol. I have been reading a lot of self-development books lately so I can’t say I have seen or heard of the above books but now I kinda want to read fiction again!!
