Wow… Is it really the end of August already?! This month was a pretty average reading month for me, I managed to read a grand total of five books! You can view my full review of them by clicking on their title (if it’s already out, that is – the rest will be to follow), and I’ve included a brief summary of my overall thoughts below. Now, without further ado, let’s get on to the books I read this month!

Not My Problem By Ciara Smyth
Rating: ✯✯✯✯
Thoughts: If you like humour, friendship and cute relationships, (and let’s be real, who doesn’t?!) then this one’s for you! Not My Problem is a really fab contemporary which features some truly brilliant adventures, whilst the protagonist, Aideen, solved all of her friends’ problems. Of course, none of that would have been possible without her trusty new friends! With a great cast of hilarious characters, Not My Problem was everything I want from a good contemporary, and it had so much heart. My one issue was the more open ending, but I still wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this book to anyone looking for a superbly funny book which still delves into a lot of relevant and relatable issues!

Perfect On Paper by Sophie Gonzales
Rating: ✯✯✯✯✯
Thoughts: After finishing Not My Problem, I was in a bit of a reading slump, until I stumbled across this. Perfect On Paper is the brilliantly queer book I didn’t know I needed and I loved every word of it. Seriously, you need this book in your life – Darcy’s struggles with biphobia were a real eye opener and every member of the Queer And Questioning Club owns my heart. The book also features an incredibly adorable relationship – with just the right amount of slow burn – and some truly fantastic characters. Of course, I also have to mention the fab dating advice service Darcy offers, which was a great addition! I would definitely recommend this to anyone searching for a cute romance with lots of friendship and character development!

As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson
Rating: ✯✯✯✯✯
Thoughts: Wow. I don’t think anything could’ve fully prepared me for the conclusion to the A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder series, and As Good As Dead was everything I wanted it to be and more. Sure, it was a lot darker than the previous two books, but I actually really enjoyed watching the series go down a different direction while also coming full circle. As Good As Dead was the sort of book that you can’t put down and that keeps you up at night – yes, it was that good. I actually cried a few times reading this and what Pip went through! I would definitely recommend this series to any mystery fan, so if you haven’t read it yet, get to it, asap – As Good As Dead is probably my favourite read of the year so far!

The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe
Rating: ✯✯✯✯✯
Thoughts: This one was a lot more than what I went in expecting! The vast majority of the book takes place during a bank heist over the space of just a few hours, which means there’s tons of action! Of course, there’s a lot more to this thriller than that – friendship and drama are also very prevalent in this suspenseful read. Each of the characters were so precious and they all deserved so much better – they were all insanely strong and really likable! This was genuinely such an interesting read that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a slightly different type of thriller which still has lots of humour and heart!

We Are 100 by Nathan Timmel
Rating: ✯✯✯✯✯
Thoughts: This was a lot different to anything I’d usually read, but I absolutely loved it and am so grateful to Nathan for sending me a copy to review. This one actually isn’t YA so it was definitely outside my usual scene but I really loved this action packed thriller! I was so invested in the story and the characters’ journey as the vast majority of them were all so likeable and I’d love to see them in another installment. This was such a page turner and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an action packed thriller exploring terrorism and the chase behind catching the perpetrator.
Have you read any of these? What books have you read this month? Let me know in the comments!
I hope you enjoyed reading this wrap up, and it’s inspired you to add a few new books to your tbr!
